The equipment is included in the price for the hike. The equipment is as following: ice axe, helmet, harness, crampons and rope. As for personal equipment you’ll need the following in your back pack: extra clothes (preferably wool base layer and wind & watertight outer layer), mittens/gloves, hat, sunglases, sunscreen, lunch, water/drink, solide hiking boots a.s.f. You are welcome to bring your dog – but not for a cave- og glacier hike.
If the dog is uesd to walking in rocky terrain, snow/ice it is welcome to join the hike to Galdhøpiggen. Many guests prefer to put socks/shoes on the dog for this hike. If the dog needs to go to the toilet during the hike we ask you not to use a bag for the excrements unless you are responsible and carry the bag back to a trash bin. Otherwise the excrements can just be left for the forces of nature to run its course.
The dog must be on a leash at all times, as this is a law in Norway between 1st of April and 20iet of August. In Lom/Jotunheimen this periode is prolonged throughout September aswell due to grassing farm animals roaming freely in the area.
Since 2023 we no longer have canoes or kayaks for rent.
We do have SUP for rent, and they can be booked through our web site or simply rented from Lom Activity park as drop in.
We recommend to contact Gjeilo Camping for renting canoes and kayaks.
If you rent a SUP it means you can enjoy it until Lom Activity park closes at 6 pm. The SUP must be returned before this hour so the staff can make sure the SUP is complete and can be ready the next day.
Children 12 years of age or older can be left alone. It is important to make sure the child is comportable with that situastion and knows how to contact his/her parents if anything were to happen or they need their parents. We prefer children of all ages to be acompanied by their parents at all times. Before engaging in any activities the parent must sign a weaver before leaving.
All our activities are within Lom kommune/municipalty.
Lom Activity park and Prestfosstraversen zip line is in the village centre of Lom Fossbergom. Galdhøpiggen High rope park is in Bøverdalen Lom, 25 km from the village centre. If you see the page “You can find us here” in our menu you can find a map with the sites marked.

We receive a lot of questions on this topic every day. I hope you understand that we need to prioritize request of guided hikes and activities before email of simply information.
Our company is a member of Visitjotunheimen.no and they can provide you with the desired information on solo hikes and activities not requiring guides. See the web site at www.visitjotunheimen.no or visit the tourist information in the midst of Lom village centre.
The answer depends on several conditions. The child must be used to hiking and crossing rocky terrain, steep terrain and to be out on a hike for several hours. For joined hikes the child must be min. 7 years old due to the consideration of the rest of the group. If the child shows signs of not being fit for the hike the guide may ask the child to abort the hike along with one parent. If this happens there is no refunding of tickets.
For private hikes children min. 5 years old can participate, as the group most often is a family and they are dedicated to do the hike together as a group and have consideration for the youngest members. When ordering a private hike the guide will only have you as a group to tend to during the day and hike, and it will be better to acommodate a childs needs. Private hikes must be booked spesificly by email to post@aktivilom.no
Yes! Even very young children enjoy exploring the caves, as long as they are well looked after by a parent and are given sufficient information on the activity. Not all the caves are suitable for the youngest, but if you are more than one parent in the group you can be flexible and wait outside taking turns.
We do not have time slots either places.
In Galdhøpiggen HIgh rope park the only restrictions are regarding the participant hight, meaning you need to be of a certain hight to be allowed and able to climb certain routes. There are no limitations on how many times you can climb any route you are high enough to climb and you can spend the entire day in the park within the opening hours.
In Lom Activity park you can also climb the routes you are high enough to climb as many times you’d like. Climbers under the age of 12 years must be acompanied by a parent/guardian older than 12 years.Once you take the harness- and helmet off you are considered finished and the equipment will not be put back on.
The climbing tower in Lom Activity park has a limit of 30 min. per ticket.
We want all children to find an activity that is safe and fitting for their age and skills. The net park is for the youngest children – max. 11 years. This is to prevent dangerous situations for the youngest and to keep them safe while playing. We understand that older children also would like to try the activity – but we have the age limit set to keep the small children safe.
Most of our hikes are for guests with a medium experience level. By this we mean that the guest is capable of using his/hers equipment, the are skilled in down hill outside prepped slopes, have knowlegde of how to behave to be safe in the mountains and know how to prepare.
If you are without experience we recommend you’ll book a hike spesificly for guests without experience with us. On a hike like this all the guest will be at the same level and the guide is prepared to infomr, help and teach.
Of course!
We do not have equipment for renting ourself but we will be happy to put you in contact with businesses that do. Per season 2023 we recommend you contact Sport1 Lom.
We will try to do so!
On our web site you can find a page showing all the equipment we have for renting. If what you need is not on this page we do not have it.
